We got a lazy start leaving Monroe, LA headed home. It was in the 50's, windy, drizzly...perfect day to do nothing. Didn't work out that way since it was an 8 or 9 hour drive home for David. We put Chrissy in the truck while we did some last minute getting ready. She hates being left alone and frequently gets into things she shouldn't....like a loose paper towel! Glad David had put the whole roll up!
We pulled out about 8:30 a.m. and headed toward Mississippi. Just before getting to Mississippi, we noticed how much more the water from THE RIVER had come up to the LA side of the I20 bridges.
Across the bridge to Mississippi!
Here's the view of the river from the Visitor Center at Vicksburg. The casino in one of the photos is being sandbagged.
There is a VERY SMALL boat going under the bridge! It's between 2nd and 3rd columns from the front of the photo.
We also met a Living History Group. I asked the gentleman if Vicksburg was still under siege. His answer was yes and we still were 150 years after the war started.
Pretty uneventful trip on the rest of the way home. Stopped for lunch in Meridian and also got fuel for the truck. Seemed like it took FOREVER to get home. None hours coming back! Arrived safely!
Catch us down the road!
Jenny :)
